A former silica deposit/quarry located in sec. 16, T6N, R4W, SBM, 3.8 km (2.4 miles) ENE of Oro Grande (coordinates of record), along the S side of Oro Grande Canyon (NW margin of Quartzite Mountain). Owned & operated by the Calmat Co. - Cement Division (100%), California (1990). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 10 meters.

Local rocks include Carboniferous marine rocks, unit 1 (Western Mojave Desert).

Workings include unspecified surface openings (the topo map reflects 1 quarry symbol labeled "quarry" at this point.
