A former limestone deposit/quarry located in sec. 4, T6N, R4W, SBM, about 5 km NNE of Oro Grande, on the summit of Sparkuhle Mountain. Owned & operated by the Riverside Cement Company (100%), Riverside, California (at least 1981-1990). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
NOTE: The USGS MRDS database file presents geographic coordinates of -117.30278, 34.60971, placing this quarry in sec. 16, the second section S of sec. 4, the quarry's stated location in that same MRDS file. There are no relevant symbols or shading on the topo map in sec. 16. Sec. 4; however, is a very large shaded area covering the summit of Sparkuhle Mountain. The geogrphic coordinates presented in this Mindat file are for the summit (or former summit) of Sparkuhle Mountain, in the shaded area.
Local rocks include Carboniferous marine rocks, unit 1 (Western Mojave Desert).
