A former Pb-Ag-Zn-Cu-W-Au occurrence/mine located in secs. 33 & 34, T14N, R16E, SBM, 4.3 km (2.7 miles) NE of Drum Peak (coordinates of record) and about 7.2 km SW of Barnwell, along Sagamore Canyon, on federal reservation land (Mojave National Preserve/East Mojave National Scenic Area). Operated during the periods 1907-1908, 1917, 1942-1945 & 1951. MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated.

Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in quartzite. The ore body is 4.27 meters in thickness. There is a large body of limestone at the E and W ends of the property, separated by 5,000 feet in which the crystalline limestone, rhyolite and granite occur. The vein(s) is(are) 0.5 foot to 14 feet wide. Ore minerals are most abundant in shoots within 4 roughly parallel veins. Associated rocks include Late Cambrian rhyolite. Local rocks include Cambrian marine rocks and/or Devonian marine rocks, unit 1 (Death Valley).

Workings include underground openings comprised of 3 adits at 1,100, 550 & 600 feet long. Shafts are 150, 100 & 50 feet deep (1952). Drifting from the main shaft developed a 4 foot vein.

Production data are found in: Goodwin, J.G. (1957): 664.

Production information: 1942 to 1945, 300 tons of ore were shipped. Shipping grade ore showed an average smelter recovery of 2.84% Zn, 19.85% Pb, 4.66% Cu, 17.50 ounces of Ag/ton and some Au.

The 4 foot thick vein assayed 2 ounces Ag/ton, 2.60% Pb, 3.64% Zn, 0.10% Cu and 0.82% WO3.
