A former lode Au-Cu occurrence/mine located in secs. 2, 3, 10 & 11, T13N, R1E, SBM, 7.9 km (4.9 miles) SE of Goldstone, on private (patented) land. The property consists of 4 patented claims that were last worked in 1937 and 1940. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 10 meters. Located in the common corners of the sections.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in schist. The ore body strikes N30W and dips 75W at a thickness of 1.83 meters. A "lime-silicate" dike forms the footwall of the vein and schist comprises the hanging wall. The vein is 2 to 6 feet (0.61 to 1.82 meters) thick. Small lenses of Cu ore were found on the contact of the "lime-silicate" (calc-silicate) dike. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 2 (Northern Mojave Desert and Southeastern Sierra Nevada).
Workings include underground openings comprised of a 600 foot drift adit. An ore shoot 150 feet long and 4 feet thick was developed and mined to surface. A 112 foot winze explored Cu ore 570 feet from the adit portal.
Analytical data results: Reported to have carried an average $30 (period values) Au/ton. Assays taken from Cu ore lenses stated to carry from 4 to 35% Cu and $1.40 (period values) Au/ton.
