A former Au occurrence/mine located in sec. 20, T6N, R4W, SBM, 1.0 km (0.6 mile) ESE of Oro Grande, on private land. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.

NOTE: USGS MRDS database file #10035605 places this mine in the S½NW¼ sec. 35, T6N, R4E, SBM, at coordinates 34.56473, -117.26171, and otherwise states "either same or adjacent to Oro Grande I." Oro Grande I Mine is located in sec. sec. 35, T7N, R4W, not sec. 35, T6N, R4E. Also, the topo map reflects "Oro Grande Mines in the plural in sec. 35, T7N, R4W, indicating perhaps both mines. The coordinates from MRDS file #10116669 place this mine in sec. 20 at a shaft symbol on the topo map. There is obvious uncertainty concerning the location of this mine.

Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in andesite. The ore body strikes N15W and dips 70W at a thickness of 3.66 meters. The vein is a few inches to 12 feet thick and contains quartz and brecciated wall rock. The andesite dikes are dark gray, non-porphyritic. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges) and/or Carboniferous marine rocks, unit 1 (Western Mojave Desert).

Workings include underground openings comprised of an open cut 200 feet long by 10 to 25 feet wide and 20 feet deep, plus a 120 foot shaft sunk on the floor of the cut and a 40 foot shaft 200 feet to the SE.

Analytical data results: Milled ore ran $4.50 (period values) Au/ton.
