A former W-Cu occurrence/mine located in secs. 25 & 36, T14N, R15E, SBM, 5.4 km (3.3 miles) NNW of Drum Peak (coordinates of record) and 3.0 km (1.9 miles) SE of Brant, along Cliff Canyon, on federal reservation land (Mojave National Preserve/East Mojave National Scenic Area). Operated during the period 1950-1951. MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated.
Mineralization is hosted in pegmatite. The ore body strikes NW and dips steeply at a width of 24.38 meters. The deposit consists of quartz of magmatic segregation origin. Chalcopyrite was observed on 140 level dump material only. Associated rocks include diorite. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).
Workings include surface and underground openings comprised of a 140 foot inclined shaft with short workings on the 40 and 140 foot levels. An adit was driven to intersect the 140 foot level. An open cut is just N of the shaft.
Production data are found in: Wright, L.A., et al (1953).
Production statistics: Year: 1951 (period = 1951): ore (estimated): ^0.5 - 1% WO3 (?). Recovery percentage WO3 = 1 weight percent. Grade of the ore proved to be uneconomical.
