A former lode Au occurrence/mine located in the S½NW¼ sec. 17, T6N, R4W, SBM, 1.6 km (1.0 mile) NE of Oro Grande, along the southern edge of the Shay-Klondike quarry, on private land. Operated in 1931 and 1947. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 10 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in rocks of the Oro Grande series (mica schist). The vein is filled with quartz and brecciated schist. Local rocks include Carboniferous marine rocks, unit 1 (Western Mojave Desert).
Workings include underground openings with an overall depth of 30.48 meters and comprised of a shaft and extensive mill foundations.
