A former Pb-Ag-Au-Cu occurrence/mine located in the N½NE¼ sec. 17, T6N, R4W, SBM, 1.7 km (1.1 miles) NE of Oro Grande. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
NOTE: USGS MRDS database file #10034026 presents MRDS file #10116561 as a related file. This latter file pertains to another "Carbonate" mine.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in limestone. The ore body is irregular in form at a thickness of 0.61 meter. Controls for ore emplacement included a shear zone. The formation that encloses the veins trends NE and dips not exceeding 20 degrees (at the main workings). The 2 veins are formed at the contact between massive blue limestone and mica schist, in a shear zone ½ mile long. The schist is 1 to 4 feet thick. At various points along the workings is a light-colored, decomposed rock resembling a felsite. Associated rocks include felsic volcanic rocks. Local rocks include Carboniferous marine rocks, unit 1 (Western Mojave Desert).
Local structures include a fault.
Workings include underground openings with an overall depth of 30.48 meters and comprised of a 225 foot shaft plus several shallow shafts.

Recorded production during the period 1891 to 1940 was intermittent. Substantial amounts of Cu and Au were recovered in addition to Pb and Ag.
