A former lode Au-Ag-Cu occurrence/mine located in secs. 26 & 27, T13N, R10E, SBM, 2.3 (1.4 miles) SSE of Seventeenmile Point (coordinates of record), in the northern Old Dad Mountains (7 miles NNW of the summit of Old Dad Mountain), on federal reservation land (Mojave National Preserve/East Mojave National Scenic Area). The property is comprised of 15 claims. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 10 meters.

Mineralization is hosted in Neoproterozoic quartzite. The ore body strikes N35E, NW and dips NW, SW at a thickness of 1.83 meters. A fault striking N40E and dipping 85SE has displaced the Brooklyn vein 75 feet to the NE. The deposit consists of fracture zones with discontinuous veins 3 to 6 feet thick. Some ore occurs in thin, bedding-plane seams. The veins are about 1,000 feet apart and are stained with Fe and Cu oxides. No ore was found beyond this fault on the different levels. Local rocks include Precambrian rocks, undivided, unit 2 (Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).

Workings include underground openings. There are 2 zones of workings about ¼ mile (0.4 km) apart. No. 1 (West) follows a zone with several NE-trending drift adits. No. 2 workings consist of 3 adit levels, winzes and stopes that follow a NW-trending zone. There are also several pits. See Tucker & Sampson (1931) for more details

Production data are found in: Wright, L.A., et al (1953).

An estimated 4,000 tons of ore were developed from the Brooklyn vein, averaging $16 (period values) Au/ton with 1 to 3 ounces of Ag/ton. 5,000 tons of tailing below the mill averaged $7 (period values) Au/ton. Total production of the vein was estimated at $150,000 (period values). No other production information was found.

Reserve-Resource data are found in: Tucker, W. Burling & Reid J. Sampson (1931).

Estimated reserves of the Los Angeles group are about 50,000 tons with an average value of $9 (period values) Au/ton. TONS W/AVG. VALUE OF $9/TON IN GOLD. The year of the estimates is unknown.
