A former lode Au occurrence/mine located in sec. 11, T2N, R23E, SBM, 0.5 km (0.3 mile) WNW of Savahia Peak (coordinates of record), on the lower NW slope of the summit. MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated. Probably is the same as the Bailey Mine. Last worked in 1935.
Corrected coordinates N34.27834 W114.53772 taken by Richard Muster at the center of the mining area in the year 2010 using an Ashtech MM6 device.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in gneiss. The vein is narrow. Associated rocks include Pliocene-Neoproterozoic volcanic rock (aphanitic). The volcanic flow rocks cap the gneiss. Local rocks include Tertiary volcanic flow rocks, unit 16 (Northern Mojave Desert).
workings include surface and underground openings. Explored for less than 50 feet horizontally by workings on 4 levels through a total vertical interval of less than 200 feet. The upper workings consist of a short drift adit near a 50 foot shaft sunk on the vein. The lower workings consist of a 200 foot crosscut adit driven N75E. Intermediate adits and short stopes and cuts were developed on the vein.
