A former Hg occurrence/mine located in sec. 32, T18S, R12E, MDM, 3.6 km (2.3 miles) S of Picacho Peak (coordinates of record), and S of New Idria, along the foot of the W canyon wall of the San Benito River. Discovered in 1904. Owned by Norman Scazighini. Produced during the periods 1910, 1913 to 1914, 1916, 1925, 1927, 1930 to 1933, 1935 to 1939, 1940 to 1942, and 1957 to 1959. MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated.
Mineralization is hosted in rocks of the Panoche Upper Cretaceous sandstone and shale. Local alteration includes induration of Panoche sediments. Controls for ore emplacement included a NW-trending, SW-dipping fault between Panoche shale and sandstone. Local rocks include rocks of the Franciscan Complex, unit 1 (Coast Ranges).
Workings include unspecified openings with a length of 274.32 meters. Workings are no longer inaccessible.
