A Au-Cu occurrence/prospect/group of claims located in the NE¼NE¼ sec. 1, T2S, R23E and in sec. 31, T1S, R24E, SBM, about 2.2 km N of Riverside Mountain (summit) (7 miles S of Vidal). Discovered in 1987. Owned by Heavy Metals Development Corp. (100%), Nevada (1990). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 10 to 100 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in limestone and schist. The ore body strikes N55E and dips 50NW at a width of 1.83 meters. A quartz vein follows a contact between the limestone and schist. Controls for ore emplacement include the contact. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 1 (Mojave Desert and Death Valley area) and/or Quaternary alluvium and marine deposits.
Workings include surface openings comprised of an inclined shaft sunk 100 feet. A Hydromet leach plant was erected.
Production data: 400 tons of ore with 14% Cu and 21 grams Au/ton.
