A Mn-Ni occurrence located in the E½ sec. 25, T24N, R8E and in the W½ sec. 30, T24N, R9E, MDM, 7.2 km (4.5 miles) WSW of Quincy and 3.4 km (2.1 miles) ESE of Meadow Valley, along Rock Creek, on National Forest land. Discovered in 1957. MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated.
Mineralization is hosted in peridotite. Local rocks include Ultramafic rocks, chiefly Mesozoic, unit 2 (Western Sierra Nevada and Klamath Mountains). The deposit is 80 acres of Ni-bearing, red, lateritic soil, perhaps less than 3 feet in average depth. It lies on partly serpentinized peridotite.
Surface sample assayed 0.18% Ni.
