A Ni occurrence located 1.2 km (4,000 feet) E of Red Hill (coordinates of record) and 3.4 km (2.1 miles) SSE of Rich Bar, on National Forest land. MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated.
Mineralization is a Cr-Ni deposit hosted in peridotite. Local rocks include Ultramafic rocks, chiefly Mesozoic, unit 2 (Western Sierra Nevada and Klamath Mountains).
20 acres of red, lateritic soil occurs as isolated patches and has an average thickness of less than 2 feet, and is underlain by serpentinized peridotite.
A surface sample assayed 0.25% Ni.
