A former Cu mine located in sec. 21, T26N, R15E, MDM, 7.1 km (4.4 miles) ESE of Johnson Hill and 4.5 km (2.8 miles) SSE of Black Mountain, on National Forest land. Also located 13 miles NW of Doyle, situated on the slope of the ridge NE of Last Chance Creek. Also located in sec. 28. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Local rocks include Tertiary pyroclastic and volcanic mudflow deposits, unit 9 (Cascade Range).
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in diorite. The ore body strikes N20W and dips 85W at 4.57 meters thick and 1,097.28 meters long. Ore controls were a fissure. Wall rocks of the quartz vein are altered to actinolite schist.
Workings include underground openings, including a vertical shaft 120 feet deep, with 25 foot and 50 foot long drifts at the bottom, running S and N, respectively. A crosscut tunnel is 125 feet long. Underground workings total 97.5 meters in length and 36.58 meters deep.
No production recorded.
Analytical data: ore ran 3% to 5% Cu and $1.20 of Au per ton (period values), plus some Ag values.
