A former placer Au occurrence/mine located in secs. 4, 9, 10, 15 & 16, T15N, R10E, MDM, 2.1 km (1.3 miles) SSE of Gold Run, on the ridge top, W side of Canyon Creek Canyon. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters. This former mine covered a significant tract of land atop the ridge and is prominently presented on the topo map as a large area of shaded mine area. This mine was the most significant mine of the district.
NOTE: Clark (1970a) refers to this locality as the "Stewart Drift" and attributes it to the Dutch Flat District
Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 6 (Northwestern Sierra Nevada).
