A former lode Au occurrence/mine located in the S½ (estimated) sec. 10, T15N, R12E, MDM, 3.0 km (1.9 miles) SE of Westville (site), on the western wall of Black Canyon, SW of Macedon Ridge, on private land within a National Forest area. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters. The St. Patrick grew into a consolidation covering 14 veins sometime before 1873. For further information on claims and production, see Logan (1936), page 29.
NOTE: USGS MRDS database file #10034898 ascribes this locality to the Canada Hill District. This is in apparent error since Clark (1970a) specifies the extent of the Westville District as incorporating Macedon Ridge, which is located between Canada Hill on the East and this mine on the W.
Mineralization is hosted in slate. The ore body strikes NE and dips SE at a thickness of 0.91 meter. The vein is 3 feet thick. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada).
Workings include underground openings with a length of 167.64 meters and an overall depth of 67.06 meters and comprised of a tunnel (adit ?).
Production data are found in: Logan, Clarence August (1936).
No other production record was found.
