A zinc mine started during WWI and closed in the 1920's. Ore is mineralized Everton, Powell & Cotter dolomites.
Deposit: Severely fractured rock. Sphalerite occurs at two places in the horizontal strata between openings 2 and 3, in the red of the creek. Opening one is 100 feet vertically below the st. Joe marble ; info.src : 1 pub lit
Geology: Some galena was found in the top of the shaft of opening #4. Opening one contains near the bottom & compact; bluish-gray limestone which has a large number of cavities an inch or more in diameter, apparently formed by solution
