A placer Au occurrence/mine located in sec. 2, T10N, R7E, MDM, 3.1 km (1.9 miles) SW of Hidden Valley, NNE of the Eureka Union School. Operated during the period 1934 to 1935. 900 acres were reported to be under lease in 1935. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
Mineralization is a placer Au deposit hosted in loose, sandy creek gravel lying on soft, decomposed granodiorite bedrock. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges) and/or Eocene nonmarine rocks, unit 1 (Northern and Central California).
Workings included surface dredging operations. The dredger employed carried 76 buckets of 4 cubic feet capacity each. Originally depth capacity was 20 feet, but this was increased to 31 feet. The average depth of digging to April, 1935, was between 10 and 15 feet.
