A former lode Au occurrence/mine located in the SE¼SE¼ sec. 7, T12N, R8E, MDM, 1.1 km (0.7 mile) NNE of Ophir, NE of the Ophir School and SW of Bald Hill (2 miles W of Auburn). Owned by Mrs. Martin Schnabel (1935). MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in granodiorite. The ore body strikes N10E and dips 45SE at a thickness of 0.91 meter. The vein is 3 feet thick and carries sulfides. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).
Workings include underground openings with a length of 91.44 meters and an overall depth of 70.1 meters and comprised of a tunnel (adit ?) and 4 shafts.
