A former lode Cu-Au occurrence/mine located in the NE¼SW¼ (estimated) sec. 29, T13N, R8E, MDM, 0.9 km (0.5 mile) SW of Elders Corner (4½ miles N of Auburn). The property comprises 10 acres. Owned by Mrs. J. C. Thomas (1935). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters. Clark (1970a) lists this mine specifically under the Ophir District.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in amphibolite, limestone and schist. The ore body strikes NW and dips NE. Local rocks include Mesozoic volcanic rocks, unit 2 (Western Sierra Foothills and Western Klamath Mountains).
Workings include underground openings with a length of 457.2 meters and an overall depth of 9.14 meters and comprised of tunnel portals (sic), crosscuts, drifts and shafts.
Production data are found in: Logan, Clarence August (1936); Lindgren, Waldemar (1894).
Production figures are uncertain. Secrecy was maintained during operation of this mine. The stimated yield was $150,000 (period values). No other production records were found.
