A former placer Au occurrence/mine located in secs. 15 & 16, T13N, R6E, MDM, 6.3 km (3.9 miles) E of Sheridan and 6.3 km (3.9 miles) NE of Ewing. Operations began October, 1934 and was discontinued in 1935. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
The deposit was on the Ione shoreline at an elevation of about 200 feet. The gravel is irregular and in patches, varying from 6 to 16 feet in depth. Local rocks include Plio-Pleistocene and Pliocene loosely consolidated deposits.
Workings include surface operations utilizing a gasoline shovel, trommel, Hungarian riffles with the fine tailings pumped off by a sand pump.
