A former lode Au occurrence/mine located in the SW¼ (estimated) sec. 3, T16N, R11E, MDM, 2.8 km (1.8 miles) NW of Blue Canyon (town), on the E wall of the Bear River Canyon, on private land within a National Forest area. The property comprises 198 acres. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in Pennsylvanian slate. The ore body strikes NW and dips 90 at a thickness of 3.66 meters. There are 3 veins at 4, 6 & 12 feet thick carrying sulfides. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada).
Workings include underground openings with a length of 274.32 meters and an overall depth of 9.14 meters and comprised of adits, a tunnel (?), drifts and a shaft.
Production data are found in: Logan, Clarence August (1936).
Some production was reported in 1905.
