A former Cr occurrence/mine located in sec. 16, T13N, R8E, MDM, 1.7 km (1.1 miles) SSW of Hotaling (site) and 2.6 km (1.6 miles) NNE of Elders Corner (Ophir District). Operated by F. W. McNear (1918). Owned by the Black Arrow Ranch Co. (1918). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
The ore body is lens-shaped. Ore occurs as small lenses of 6 inches (15 cm) to 3½ feet (1.06 meters) wide. Ore exposed in the workings in 1918 consisted of "Leopard Ore" (nodular ore) containing about 40% Cr2O3, but some massive ore was found in the cuts and as float. Some of the float blocks were as much as 3 feet (0.91 meter) in diameter. Local rocks include Mesozoic volcanic rocks, unit 2 (Western Sierra Foothills and Western Klamath Mountains).
Workings include surface and underground openingsand comprised of an inclined shaft 50 feet deep and several small open cuts.
