A former placer Au occurrence/hydraulic mine located in sec. 4, T14N, R10E, MDM, about 2.5 km (1¼ miles) SSE of Iowa Hill on the W wall of New York Canyon, W of Prospect Hill. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Local rocks include Tertiary pyroclastic and volcanic mudflow deposits, unit 9 (Cascade Range).
