A former placer Au occurrence/hydraulic & drift mine located in sec. 36, T12N, R7E, MDM, 2.6 km (1.6 miles) ESE of Penryn. Operated in the 1890's. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).
Workings include underground openings. A bedrock tunnel had been driven in slate for 500 feet in 1894 and from the end a raise of 32 feet extended into gravel but little pay was found.
