A former lode Au occurrence/mine located in sec. 16, T16N, R9E,MDM, 0.8 km (0.5 mile) NW of Banner Mountain (coordinates of record), N of Little Deer Creek. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
NOTE: USGS MRDS file #10286310 presents geographic coordinates of -120.97213, 39.25129 for this locality. These coordinates place it in sec. 16, T16N, R9E, N of Banner Mountain, while MRDS file #10101287 presents coordinates of -121.08882, 39.24933 placing it in sec. 16, T16N, R8E, near Newtown in the Grass Valley District; however, both files state that it is in sec. 16, T16N, R9E. Therefore, the coordinates provided in file #10286310 are presented in this Mindat file.
Mineralization is hosted in diorite, argillite and granite. The ore body strikes N and dips 34E at a thickness of 1.22 meters. Local rocks include Mesozoic gabbroic rocks, unit 2 (undivided).
Workings include underground openings with a length of 335.28 meters and an overall depth of 60.96 meters and comprised of an incline and a tunnel.
