A former lode Au occurence/mine located in sec. 16 & 21, T16N, R9E, MDM, 0.7 km (0.5 mile) WSW of Banner Mountain (coordinates of record) (foot of western slope of the mountain) (3 miles SW of Nevada City). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
NOTE: USGS MRDS file #10007535 presents geographic coordinates of -121.09104, 39.24072, which place this locality between Grass Valley and Newtown, W of Grass Valley, although it correctly presents T&R value of secs. 16 & 21, T16N, R9E, MDM. This is obviously in error. The coordinates presented in this Mindat file are from MRDS file #10286106.
Local rocks include Tertiary pyroclastic and volcanic mudflow deposits, unit 9 (Cascade Range) and/or Mesozoic gabbroic rocks, unit 2 (undivided).
Workings include underground openings with a length of 121.92 meters and an overall depth of 15.24 meters and comprised of a crosscut & drifts.
