A former placer Au occurrence/drift mine located in the NW¼ sec. 13 & in sec. 14, T18N, R10E, MDM, 0.1 km (0.1 mile) NNE of Snow Point (site) and 1.7 km (1.1 miles) E of Orleans Flat, E of New York Ravine and S of Black Cut Ravine, on National Forest land. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Local rocks include Mesozoic gabbroic rocks, unit 2 (undivided).
Workings include underground openings comprised of a 2-compartment shaft sunk to bedrock at a depth of 230 feet, plus about 400 feet of drifts.
production information: 12 men were employed and an output of approximately 100 cubic yards of gravel per day was expected in the near future (timeframe unknown).
