A former lode Au mine located in secs. 13 & 24, T16N, R8E, & in secs. 18 & 19, T16N, R9E, MDM (near common corner of all 4 sections), about 2.2 km (1.5 miles) S of Nevada City proper, E of Gold Flat. MRDS database accuracy for this location is not stated.
Mineralization is hosted in diabase. The ore body is irregular in form with numerous shoots, strikes N45E and dips 43SE at a thickness of 0.91 meter. Local rocks include Tertiary pyroclastic and volcanic mudflow deposits, unit 9 (Cascade Range).
Local structures include small normal faults which strike E and dip N, cutting the veins.
Workings include underground openings with an overall depth of 495.3 meters and are comprised of a shaft with numerous levels, drifts, crosscuts and stopes.
