A former lode Au occurrence/mine located in sec. 18, T16N, R8E, MDM, 2.2 km (1.3 miles) NE of Rough and Ready, along the N canyon wall of Deer Creek (4 miles NW of Grass Valley). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Mineralization is hosted in granodiorite and amphibolite. The ore body strikes E and dips 30-45N. Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).
Workings include underground openings with a length of 304.8 meters and an overall depth of 114.3 meters and comprised of an inclined shaft, raise, drifts, a crosscut adit and stopes.
