A former Au occurrence/mine located in the NE¼ (estimated) sec. 16, T14N, R8E, MDM, 1.6 km (1.0 mile) S of Dew Drop, along highway 49, NW of Cottage Hill (1½ miles SE of Limekiln School), on state forest land. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit. Local rocks include ultramafic rocks, chiefly Mesozoic, unit 2 (Western Sierra Nevada and Klamath Mountains) and/or Mesozoic volcanic rocks, unit 2 (Western Sierra Foothills and Western Klamath Mountains).
Workings include underground openings with an overall depth of 15.24 meters and comprised of a shaft.
There was some production in 1935.
