A former placer Au occurrence/hydraulic mine located in the SE¼ sec. 23, T16N, R10E, MDM, 2.7 km (1.7 miles) SW of McGuire Mountain (coordinates of record), along the divide between the Bear River and Steephollow Creek. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is . IN 1923 Hydraulic operations over a short time in 1923 made a small cleanup.
Mineralization is a placer Au deposit of auriferous Neocene gravels in a continuation of the Dutch Flat channel. The gravel was about 60 feet deep. 30 feet of reddish quartz gravel covering about the same amount of blue gravel hydraulic mine (? - grammar from USGS MRDS file). Local rocks include undivided pre-Cenozoic metavolcanic rocks, unit 2 (undivided).
Workings include surface and underground openings.
