A former lode Au occurrence/mine located in the SE¼ (estimated) sec. 26, T16N, R7E, MDM, 1.4 km (0.8 mile) SW of Rough and Ready, along Squirrel Creek (5½ miles W of Grass Valley). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
NOTE: USGS MRDS database file #10212637 presents the geographic coordinates of -121.15134, 39.21239, while file #10007231 presents coordinates of -121.14937, 39.22239. The former coordinates place the locality in the SE¼SE¼ sec. 26, where file #10007231 states that it is in the SE¼, despite the coordinates this same file presents places it in the NW¼ sec. 25. Based on these data, the former coordinates are considered the more accurate and place the locality at the end ofan unimproved, dead end road, such as would lead to a mine.
Mineralization is hosted in gabbro. The ore body is 0.61 meter thick. Local rocks include Mesozoic gabbroic rocks, unit 2 (undivided).
Workings include underground openings with an overall depth of 115.82 meters and comprised of 2 shafts.
