SS Cheerful was shipwrecked on 20 July 1885 and carried 28- and 56-pound (12 and 25 kg) ingots of Cornish tin bearing the marks of the smelting houses of Treloweth - St Erth, Carvedras - Truro, Trethellan - Truro, and Tamar - Bere Ferrers. The wreck lies in 35 fathoms (64m) of water, 18 miles (33km) NNW of St Ives.
