A former lode Au-Ag-Pb-Cu occurrence/mine located in secs. 8 & 17, T16N, R8E, MDM, 0.1 km (0.0 mile) NW of Newtown (4 miles W of Nevada City), on private (patented) land. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.

Mineralization is a vein deposit. The ore body is 2.44 meters thick. The vein is 2 to 3 feet thick. Local rocks include Mesozoic volcanic rocks, unit 2 (Western Sierra Foothills and Western Klamath Mountains).

Workings include underground openings with an overall depth of 304.8 meters and comprised of an inclined shaft with 6 levels of drifting.

Production data are found in: Logan, Clarence August (1941); Goodwin, Joseph Grant (1957).

Sulfides carried 10 ounces Ag and 1 ounce Au. Au averaged $5 (period values) per ton while Ag was at $1.06 (period values) per ton.
