A Mn occurrence located in sec. 18, T10N, R5W, MDM, 7.8 km (4.9 miles) NNE of Aetna Springs. 1½ miles from Rutts Canyon Road from Middletown to Pope Valley, ½ mile SE of Valentine Kramer Ranch. Operated by R.M. Ries and Oscar Jacobsen.
Manganese occurs as a massive siliceous bed enclosed in thin-bedded radiolarian cherts, which strike at varying angles and dip 50 to 60NE. Ore is siliceous black manganese oxides with silica cores and streaks of red chert. Thin seams of siliceous ore are intercalated in enclosing chert.
Workings include trenches and a tunnel. No production.
Ore grade 20% Mn, 55% silica.
