A pumice deposit/mine located in the E½SW¼ and SW¼SE¼ sec. 1, T3S, R31E, MDM, 5.9 km (3.7 miles) SSW of Diana Peak in the Blind Spring Valley, about 3,000 feet W of Yellowjacket Spring, on Bureau of Land Management wilderness land (Benton Range Wilderness Study Area), and/or National Forest land (1½ miles E of the Tower Mine). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
Mineralization is a layer of subaqueous pumice, 8 to 12 feet thick, rests on pumiceous sandy soil and dips about 5E. The upper 2 feet of the pumice layer is made up of well-rounded pumice pebbles and grains that range from 1/8 inch to 2 inches (4 mm to 5 cm) in diameter. Local rocks include Plio-Pleistocene and Pliocene loosely consolidated deposits.
Workings include surface openings comprised of 3 pits, now abandoned.
