A pumice deposit/mine(s) located in sec. 28, T2S, R32E, MDM, 4.1 km (2.5 miles) SE of Diana Peak (coordinates of record) (about 1000 feet NW of Mathieu Ranch House, in the low hills along the SE side of Blind Spring Hill. Quarries in the SW¼ of the sec.), on National Forest land. Operations started in 1924 and continued until 1945. Idle in September, 1953. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 10 meters.

Mineralization is an extensive layer of pumice about 18 feet thick, exposed in several partly caved tunnels and bulldozer cuts. It is overlain by loosely consolidated Bishop Tuff 1 to 6 feet thick. White, angular pumice fragments range from dust-sized particles to as much as 3 inches (7.5 cm) in diameter. Local rocks include Quaternary alluvium and marine deposits.

Workings include surface and underground openings comprised of tunnels and bulldozer cuts.

Product used as an aggregate in the manufacture of light weight building blocks and concrete. Large reserves remain.
