A former lode Ag-Cu-Pb-Au mine located in sec. 13, T2S, R31E, MDM, 1.1 km (3,500 feet) W of Modoc Peak (coordinates of record), on National Forest land. Produced in 1920 and 1942. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 5,000 meters (an unreasonable value in view of the totality of data presented among the 2 MRDS files. Coordinates provided correspond to an adit symbol on the topo map).
Local rocks include Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges) and/or Plio-Pleistocene and Pliocene loosely consolidated deposits.
Workings include unspecified underground openings.
Production information: Shipped ore in 1920. Smelter recovery was 138 ounces Ag/ton, 0.147 ounces Au/ton, 2.58% Pb and 3.06% Cu. Some Ag was produced by direct recovery in 1942. No total or individual production values available.
