A former lode Au-Ag mine located in sec. 15 and in the NW¼NE¼ sec. 16, T4S, T27E, MDM, 5.3 km (3.3 miles) SSW of Mammoth Lakes (town), in the Mammoth Lakes area (lakes), just E of Lake Mary,on private (patented) land in a National Forest area. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 100 meters.
Mineralization is hosted in latite and skarn (tactite). The ore body is lenticular in form at a thickness of 3.05 meters in a shear zone, minor breccia zones and anastomosing quartz veinlets. Local rocks include Mesozoic volcanic rocks, unit 3 (Mojave Desert, Death Valley area, and Eastern Sierra Nevada).
Workings include underground openings comprised of a 1,540 foot tunnel, with a raise inclined to the NW is 1,500 feet from the portal and 150 feet. 2 additional exploratory raises. A crosscut intersects the mineralized zone.
Production data are found in: Rinehart & Ross (1964).
Production information: Ore mined from raises in 1939 - 1941. No other production record was found.
Production statistics: Year: 1941: Period: 1939 - 1941: Accurate results. Ag = 52,700 grams; Au = 32,700 grams.
