A former lode Au mine located in sec. 1, T3N, R25E, MDM, 9.3 km (5.7 miles) SSE of Willow Springs, along an unnamed tributary of Clearwater Creek. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 10 meters.
NOTE: MRDS database file #10007171 provides geographic coordinates with corresponding T&R values of sec. 18, T3N, R26E, MDM. These values do not coorrespond to the actual location of this mine of the topo map. MRDS file #10211853 provides another set of geographic coordinates and corresponding T&R values of sec. 1, T3N, R25E. These latter values plot exactly to the shaft symbol on the topo map for the Little Bodie Mine and are therefore presented in this file.
Mineralization is hosted in diorite. The ore body strikes N60E, NW and dips 60NW at a thickness of 1.22 meters. Local rocks include Silurian and/or Ordovician marine rocks, unit 2 (Bishop) and/or Tertiary pyroclastic and volcanic mudflow deposits, unit 9 (Cascade Range) NOTE: The latter rock types are apparently based on the erroneous coordinates found in MRDS file #10007171.
Workings include underground openings comprised of a 175 foot incline with levels at 100 feet and 150 feet. Mill on site.
Assay values: Ore values said to be $12/ton (period values).
