A pumice deposit located in secs. 10 & 11, T2S, R31E, MDM, 1.8 km (5,900 feet) SW of Benton Hot Springs, on National Forest land. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.

The deposit consists of a lens-like pumkice layer, 1 to 20 feet thick, which is well-exposed in the pit. Silica sand constitutes about 10% of the pumice layer. The pumice is white and occurs in angular fragments that range from dust-like particles to 8 inches in diameter. Local rocks include Quaternary volcanic flow rocks, unit 2 (Long Valley Caldera).

Workings include surface openings comprised of a bulldozer-operated open pit. Material is used for making light weight building blocks.
