A former lode Au mine located in the SE¼ (estimated) sec. 14, T4S, R18E, MDM, 3.0 km (9,700 feet) SSE of Briceburg, along Bear Creek (close to the Yosemite all-year highway), on private land. Property consists of 25 patented acres. Discovered in 1855. Operated intermittently until 1901. Operated by Frank and Nellie Harris. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit with a vein 2 to 2.5 feet (0.61 to 0.75 meter) thick, hosted in pyroxenite, andesite and greenstone. The ore body strikes E and dips 60-70S at a thickness of 1.52 meters. The main vein is a continuation of the system which crosses the adjacent King Solomon Mine. Alteration is local wherein the greenstone is rendered slaty to schistose by intense shearing. Local rocks include Mesozoic volcanic rocks, unit 2 (Western Sierra Foothills and Western Klamath Mountains).
Workings include underground openings with a length of 304.8 meters and an overall depth of 182.88 meters, comprised of an adit.
Nothing was recorded of early production, but substantial production was probable.
