A former lode Au-Cu mine located in sec. 12 and/or in the NW¼NE¼ sec. 13 (card says mine is in sec. 13, map shows it in sec. 12 [MRDS note]), T6S, R16E, MDM, 5.6 km (3.5 miles) WSW of Wildcat Mountain (coordinates of record) and 6.2 km (3.9 miles) WSW of Catheys Valley, along Bear Creek. Operated by Joe C. Souza and Tony Diaz. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in greenstone. The ore body is 0.91 meters wide (thick ?). Local rocks include Jurassic marine rocks, unit 1 (Western Sierra Nevada and Western Klamath Mountains).
Workings include underground openings with an overall depth of 7.32 meters, and, in 1902, were comprised of 1 shaft.
Owners shipped ore reputed to yield over $40 in Cu & Au (period values).
