A former lode Au mine located in the E½NW¼ sec. 15, T3S, R16E, MDM, 1.4 km (4,600 feet) E of Horseshoe Bend Mountain, along Buckhorn Creek at its confluence with Maxwell Creek (½ mile S of the Malvina group), on private (patented) land. Discovered in 1867. Operated by C. C. Kellogg, Adolph Bulla. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.

Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in slate and serpentinite. The ore body strikes N32W and dips 65NE at a thickness of 1.83 meters. Aubury (1904) describes a slate hanging wall and serpentine footwall. Local rocks include Jurassic marine rocks, unit 1 (Western Sierra Nevada and Western Klamath Mountains).

Workings include underground openings with a length of 236.22 meters and an overall depth of 45.72 meters, and comprised of a 150 foot deep shaft with 625 feet of drifts. Workings now watered and partly caved.
