A former lode Au mine located in the SE¼ sec. 33 & in the SW¼ sec. 34, T2S, R16E, MDM, 1.1 km (3,700 feet) NNW of Coulterville (just W of highway 49 in Coulterville. Adjoins the Luisa Mine on the NW). Property is comprised of about 20 patented acres. Operated by Walter J. Lautenschlager. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 500 meters. Worked intermittently prior to 1900 as part of the Mary Harrison group of mines, and earlier as an independent property. Details of production not recorded. Idle many years. No other production record found.
Mineralization is hosted in slate. The ore body strikes NW and dips 50NE at a thickness of 6.1 meters. Local rocks include utramafic rocks, chiefly Mesozoic, unit 2 (Western Sierra Nevada and Klamath Mountains) and/or Jurassic marine rocks, unit 1 (Western Sierra Nevada and Western Klamath Mountains).
Workings include underground openings with a total length of 152.4 meters and overall depth of 152.4 meters. The workings largely caved and inaccessible but probably not extensive.
