A former lode Au mine located in sec. 8, T8S, R18E, MDM, 3.0 km (9,900 feet) WSW of Green Mountain (coordinates of record) (near the Goodview Mine). MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.

NOTE: There is apparent confusion between this mine and the Carson Mine (Bouvier Mine). MRDS file # 10034721 places this mine in sec. 8, T6S, R18E, MDM, while MRDS file #10261562 presents the Live Oak Mine with the names Carson and Bouvier as alternate names, placing the mine in sec. 21, T6S, R18E, MDM. The T&R values in file #10034721 are in apparent error since the Good View Mine is in T8S, not T6S. The Carson Mine (Bouvier Mine) has 2 dedicated MRDS files (#10031191 & 10285213), placing the mine in sec. 21 (file #10031191) and also in secs. 3 & 4 [?], T4S, R16E, MDM with an accuracy of 5,000 meters(file #10285213). File #10285213 also presents a separate MAS MILS file No. for the Carson (Bouvier) Mine. File #10031191 also documents production of Au-Ag and Cu, whereas, none of the other 3 MRDS files involved mention Cu. Based on the overall data presented in the 4 MRDS files it is apparent that the location of the Carson/Bouvier is highly uncertain and that the Live Oak is in sec 8, and possibly also in secs. 3 & 4, which are contiguous to sec. 8, near the Good View Mine. The data are presented accordingly in this Mindat file.

Mineralization is hosted in granite. The ore body strikes NE and dips 30SE at a thickness of 1.22 meters. Local rocks include Jurassic marine rocks, unit 1 (Western Sierra Nevada and Western Klamath Mountains) and/or Mesozoic granitic rocks, unit 3 (Sierra Nevada, Death Valley area, Northern Mojave Desert and Transverse Ranges).

Workings include underground openings with a total length of 99.06 meters and an overall depth of 53.34 meters, and comprised of a 175 foot incline and 150 feet of drifts.
