A former lode Au mine located in sec. 31, T3S, R18E and in sec. 6, T4S, R18E, MDM, 1.8 km (5,900 feet) ESE of Quartz Mountain [1] and 5.5 km (3.4 miles) WNW of Briceburg, along the Merced River, on Bureau of Land Management wilderness land (Merced River Wilderness Study Area). Property was unpatented. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters.
Mineralization is a vein deposit with 3 veins at 2, 8 and 12 feet thick, respectively, hosted in slate. The ore body strikes NW and dips 85NE at a thickness of 3.66 meters. Local rocks include Paleozoic marine rocks, undivided, unit 4 (Western Sierra Nevada).
Workings include underground openings with a total length of 15.24 meters, and comprised of a 50 foot incline.
