A former lode Au mine located in sec. 21, T5S, R18E, MDM, 0.5 km (1,600 feet) SE of Mount Bullion (4 miles WNW of Mariposa; near Arkansas Flat N of highway 140; section lines projected; UTM approximate). Operated during the period 1906 to 1909. MRDS database stated accuracy for this location is 1,000 meters. A former Las Mariposas grant mine.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in slate. Local rocks include Jurassic marine rocks, unit 1 (Western Sierra Nevada and Western Klamath Mountains).
Workings include unspecified surface openings.
Production data are found in: Bowen, O.E., Jr. & C.H. Gray, Jr. (1957).
Active in 1906, 1908, and 1909, producing 27.22 tons of ore yielding $1,338.28, or an average of $49.16 per ton (period values).
